Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Mike and June-

Our little pearl (Queeny x Hendrix) is 4 years old now and doing great.  She takes everyone's breath away when she is working in the fields. She stops traffic when we're walking in downtown Lake Geneva.  Pearl is an incredible watch dog and a cuddler on the couch.  She is great with other dogs, has a delightful sense of humor, and continues to melt my heart with her "smile", because she has the same wrinkles around her mouth as her mama.

I can't even begin to tell you how many compliments we've had on her beauty, her manners, and her intelligence.

Every day is Christmas for us because of this dog, and we extend you most sincere thanks to you for trusting us with one of your pups.

We wish you all the joys of the Christmas season and a most prosperous and happy 2019

I will be the first to attest to the calm temperament of Mike Mabe’s GSP lines. Every vet and hunter that has met our girl, Piper, born from Joplin and Ruger, can not believe how calm and non neurotic she is! She has been a dream come true the last five years to us!
Being a dog lover and trainer, I’ve seen many kennels. Mr. Mabe’s is the cleanest around. You can tell he and his family truly care for these pups til the day they go to their forever homes.

Thank you guys, for breeding such a wonderful line of the worlds most beautiful dog!

Nichole

Back in 2003 we bought a GSP from you from a litter born on July 4th,2003.  The sire was Sir Duder Von Mabe and dam D&T Catch Me If You Can.  We named the pup Catch Me Leggy Liberty and called her Libby.  She was a beautiful girl.

When she was 6 years old she developed Megasophagus.  Our vet told us they usually survive only 6 months with that condition.  We found a support group and got a lot more information about the disease and how to treat it.  Long story short, Libby died peacefully on March 16th 2018 at the age of 14-1/2.

I just wanted to let you know how much love she provided and how much love we gave her in return.  She was truly one of a kind.  Thank you for being a reputable and caring breeder of these beautiful dogs.  Someday, when the time is right, I hope to welcome another GSP into my home.

I wish you all the best,

Sincerely,

Dan

Just wanted to share a picture with you of how handsome this man is!!

He's insane and a ball of energy, but we love him so much!

Hope all is well.

A couple more shots of Lola (and my other dog),

She is doing very well.  Solid pointing.  Stopped her from breaking on birds she can see (Stupid pen raised birds).

Retrieving is great.  Range is much, much better.  She is doing great for a puppy at 11 months old. I have probably

shot at least 100 pheasant over her this year.  She definitely knows her way around at Rooster Heaven.

The Challenge for me this summer will be working on some of the house things.  Leash work, water retrieving, etc.

All of the stuff we fell behind on last year due to her leg injury.

She has shown no ill effects of the plate in her leg.  That is going just fine.

Thanks-

Randy

Hello there,

An update on Sarge.  He is now 7 months old and weighing at 60#.  He is going to be big like his dad BB.  Sarge has soared beyond expectations i the field and is blowing 2, 3, and 4yr old pointers out of the water.  Thanks for everything and excited to get another pup in a few more yrs.

Thanks,

Ray and Aimee

Sir Ruger Von Baxter

Retired Breeder and Best Friend

05/17/05-01/01/18

Dear Mike,

Its been 3 weeks since I brought Sir Ruger home and I thought you might like an update.  In fact, feel free to share with anyone looking to adopt a senior retired breeder.  At 11 years old (a lot different than the initial 8 years old originally thought), you know how concerned I was about Ruger's ability to adjust, be house broken, relate to other dogs socially, and bond with me.  Well, let me tell you, the old fella has just blown me away!  It took about 30 minutes to get him out of the comfort of my garage (he was probably comforted by the familiar concrete), but once he emerged he was curious about everything!  He explored the fence line and seemed to be a little anxious about being outside actually.  No worries, he headed for the house and walked in like he owned it.  After 1 week he was comfortable on the stairs, lying on his dog beds instead of the floor, waling like a PERFECT gentleman on leash (with the new dog walker and me), meeting new people large and small, and greeting dogs of all sizes.   With in 4 days of perfect behavior in his cage at night and during the day, he decided he was NOT going to have any more of that and at #83 he was winning that argument.  He had tasted freedom form his kennels na I guess he felt he had proven himself!  So I bit the bullet, crossed my fingers and left him out.  He surprised me again.  I clearly bought several hundred dollars-worth of gates and a crate for NO reason and his behavior was perfect again.  He has been out ever since an even crept upstairs the first night to quietly sleep near the foot of my bed on his bed.  He's been there every night since All who meet him comment on his beautiful coat and lines,  and his loving and gentle personality.  What a lover he is , But not pushy...and I thought he might be aloof.

It hasn't' been entirely hiccough free.  He fell into my Koi poind 3 times in the first 12 hours! I'm strongly suspicious that he purposely jumped in the third time to get another on of those nice smelling baths with a towel rub.  He hasn't full regained his appetite and has lost a little weight.  And, he will not bark.  Not that I'm complaining, but this isn't my first GSP and it is oddly quiet around here!

Sincerly,

Mary

Hello Mike,

I wanted to reach out to you and let you know that Sir Ruger passed this past Monday after a valiant but brief battle with Lymphoma.  If you recall, I was leery of adopting a senior dog only to be proven a fool within a week.  What a kind, gentle, and regal friend he turned out to be.  It was an honor to teach him how to be loved and accept being spoiled rotten and king of the castle!  He was strong like a bull despite his age and up for a hike on the bike path any day, any time, and any weather.  I will miss my gentle soul more than I can say.

RIP Sir Ruger, you were well loved.

Regards,

Mary

Mike-

Hope all is well.

Been meaning to send you an update on Lola.  You might remember that Lola was a special case...... she was the puppy that broke her leg.  After all of that silliness, I was able to start working her in October.  I got a little help from Terry Cope at Rooster Heaven for the first few introductory type things (Shooting, birds, etc).  It has been going well.  Strong pointing. Good retrieving.  Decent obedience (ended up getting a collar since I was behind in field obedience due to the injury, it has done very well ....really just need the vibration setting).

Have been hunting at least once a week. Sometimes twice.  She is getting better every time out.

Thanks again for all of your help

Randy

Merry Christmas Mike & June-

Pearl (Queenie x Hendrix) is three years old now.  I honestly cannot fin words to tell you what a wonderful dog she is.  While I know that age, experience, and obedience classes have played a large role, I can't help but feel that the foundation training you gave her when she was just a little pup became the largest factor in her tremendous development.  She finds, points, and retrieves the birds, she loves to swim, she heels on a loose leash (most of the time:), is a lover and a fierce watch dog.  She is stunningly beautiful and has an adorable sense of humor.  And the wrinkles around her mouth when she smiles are exactly the same as her mama Queenie.

She is the joy of our lives. Thank you for breeding your dogs with brains, beauty, health, and skill in mind.  And thank you for offering your clients the training program for young pups-absolutely the best thing we could have done for Pearl.

We wish you and your family all the blessing an djoys of the Christmas season

Bud and Jan

PS- My Mabe sweatshirt is also three years old.  Still looks brand new after endless hikes, slobbers, burrs, mud, washing etc.  Always glad to tell people where I got it!

Hi Mike!

Diesel had his first live hunt yesterday.  He is not gun shy and not tentative to run through the brush at all.  But he didn't find or retrieve any birds.  He found lots of deer poop.  A dead dear hoof and a dead mouse. Lol.  We will keep working with him and know he is still young.  We have been doing the wing with him everday and fetch everday.  Any other tips are welcome if you have any.

Thanks

Michelle

Blitz—phenomenal family dog! He was a started GSP with Mabe in October 2012

Rooster is liver roan male out of BuddyXAbby

Josey is black roan female out of GeddyXRigby

Rooster and Josey are outstanding dogs at home and in the field. Rooster has impressed me thoroughly with everything that he does. He's a great pet and his drive in the field is endless.

Josey is a wonderful pup she's only 10 months and she learns very quickly. They're both wonderful in the field and at home. Rooster is probably the best dog I will ever have the chance

of owning. Thanks for the great dogs and always answering the phone and always calling me back whenever I have questions.

Thanks

Sean

We took her to Sanibel Island, she love the beach.  She became a champ ocean swimmer and loved pointing

all of the sea birds. (Haha the people in the beach were quite entertained and she even go a standing

ovation from some elderly former hunters!)  From Buddy and Gracie liter 2/18/16. She is an absolute

sweetheart. Russ took her hunting last fall in Pennsylvania and she was amazing!  She is a great dog.  She

loves other dogs and people-she is brave and fearless and sweet and dignified.

Thank You,

Mabe Kennels!

She is a great hunting dog. Not even a year old here..WoW... She pointed this one!  Saw it through on a

strong point to the finish.  First grouse on her list of accomplishments.  Moment of pride between hunter

and huntress!

Thank you,

Mabe Kennels

Mike & June-

How do we adequately thank you for our little pearl?  She is such a joy & the light of our lives.

Pearl is in her second season of hunting& the envy of everyone who wathces her work.  I credit you for that and the initial training program you put her through.  I am so glad we opted to let you keep her for those extra few weeks of training when she was just a pup.  I highly recommend it for all of your clients- well worth every dime & we see the benefits more & more as she gets older.  At only 2 1/2, she brings a wounded, flapping pheasen right to you feet. And that doesn't even touch the beauty of her finding & pointing the birds.

She is a great house dog, easy on the leash, a wonderful watchdog & gets compliments on her beauty & manners every where we go.

Thank you!

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas & a blessed 2017!

Best dog! Happy holidays from Sage from Buddy and Gracie litter 2/16. She has the best life! She has been hunting like a champ, too. Pointing and bringing in birds. My husband is so happy. We love her so so much! Thanks so much. Much love to you and your dogs and family

Happy Holidays

Sage from 2016 litter out of Gracie and Buddy is doing great. Hunting like a champ with all of the other field dogs. Just amazing really and we are

so so happy with her. Everyone loves her and remarks on her almost pure black unusual coloring for GSP. We are so pleased and will send you positive

references from everyone who asks. Love her so much, great house dog and sweet and funny and loving. She cracks me up every day! just wished we

wouldn't have spayed her!! But I don't know anything about dog breeding so for the best. Hey I remember visiting your kennel when we picked up

Sage and if you ever want to retire old champs like Buddy or Geddy (made instant connection with them) we would love to take them off of your hands

just as pampered pet and loving cared for house dog. I would sign papers not to breed etc. Either one- they just had such intelligence and zen in their

eyes. I would love to give either one happy home. We have had many older racing greyhounds in our home, loved them till the end of their days.

You have such a great well cared for kennel, just thinking nice to have the old dogs retired in pampered state of love. Just a thought but if you are

interested let me know.My husband hunts and I spoil. Haha it seems to work out well. I walk Sage over 5 miles every day in forests and around lakes.

My husband takes her bird hunting every weekend in season. I am the butt of jokes in the hunting community for her various dog coats I walk her daily

in when it's cold!! Ha!! We have a local trainer I drive her out to for bird release. I always tell her she is so spoiled. We will get another

Dog from you soon, for sure. Thanks for our little beauty and happy holidays Mabe Kennels!!

Best wishes and lots of love to you and your family.
Thank you soooo much-
Russ and Lisa

Thanks Mike:

I also want to tell you about his younger brother, Trigger he has been hunting a few times has beautiful classy points like his brother Hunter, and won his first puppy class field trial.

He is now 4 years old, and big like his father Ruger, and I do mean big, you told us he was the biggest pup you ever had. He is now 28 inches tall and weighs 90lbs, this is good because

he has become my assistance dog. I often fall and this big strong hoss of a dog is able to lift me by pushing himself under me and raising  both me and him up, and buy getting under

my arm and helping me to something to climb up. I also suffer from migraines that leave me totally blind, he senses when they are coming on and alerts me or my wife, and the same

when I am about to have a seizure, When I am blind and no one is here he guides me into the house or to my chair. These things are awesome, but what is more awesome is he has never

been trained to do these things. After he has done them I have encouraged him and practiced with him though. He was supposed to be my grandsons dog but since he started doing these

things, my daughter, and son in law decided to leave him with me, I bless that decision. He is an awesome dog thank you for both hunter, and Trigger, our family will never be the same

thanks to you and these two incredible dogs.

Willam

Dear Mike:

We wish to thank you for your excellent work breeding Hunter.  He was sired by Ruger, out of Cassie. I went with my son in law, and daughter to pick him out for them, since I would be training him.

It came down to him and his look a like brother, both liver roans with patches and heavy ticking.  It was his natural desire to retrieve picking up a stick and bringing it to me that made me choose him.

His retrieving has earned him great praise from many people.  He retrieves from water, and does nourmous blind retrieves, he has retrieved from up to a quarter of a mile away.

Tell those who beieve you have to force train a G.S.P. they don't know what their talking about, He will pick up and bring anything you point at, and carry for youat you side anything until you take it.

He was a natural at backing another pointing dog, no training needed.  His points are always stylish, and staunch, he would cast close and quarter well. We hunted him with our black G.S.P who has no equal

but he comes close to her, and learned alot from her.  We have hunted pheasants, quail, chucker.  We competed them in Field Trails both established themselves as being special.  Hunter has earned many

ribbons, trophies, and certificates, in the United Kennels Club, he earned his TAN, and Gun Dog Championship.  In United Field Trail events he earned ribbons, in independent feld trail events, and

Quail Forever events.  The greatest praise he go was from a judge who was a professional retriever trainer, who saw his directed and blind retrieves, and asked how long it took to force break him and

when I said he wasn't forced he was natural he salivated, next time we saw him he had G.S.P  The greatest thing about Hunter is his love for his family.  Once he heard my granddaughter in the front

yard crying while he was in the backyard he leapt over a four foot fence to get to her and make sure she was ok.  Did I mention there isn't enough money in the world to buy him.  Five years later my

daughter bought another son of Ruger. Hunter in now nine years old and not wearing out at all

Thank you very much,

William

Dear Mike,

It's been 3 weeks since I brought Sir Ruger home and I thought you might like and update.  In fact, feel free to share with anyone looking to adopt a senior retired breeder.  At 11 years old, you know how concerned

I was about Ruger's ability to adjust, be house broken, relate to other dogs socially, and bond with me.  Well, let me tell you, this old fella has just blown me away!  It took about 30 minutes to get him out of the comfort

of my garage(he was probably comforted by the familiar concrete), but once he emerged he was curious about everything!  He explored the fence line and seemed to be a little anxious about being outside actually.

No worries, he headed for the hous and walked in like he owned it.  After 1 week he was comfortable on the stairs, lying on his dog beds instead of the floor, walking like a PERFECT gentleman on a leash

( With the new dog walker and me), meeting new people large and small, and greeting dogs of all sizes.  Within $ days of perfect behavior in his cage at night and during the day,  he decidedhe was Not going

to have any more of that and at #83 he was winning that argument.  He had  tasted freedom from his kennel and I guess he felt he dad proven himself!  So I bit the bullet, crossed my fingers and left him out.

He suprised me again.  I clearly bought several hundred dollars -worth of gated and a crate for NO reason as his behavior was perfect again.  He has been out ever since and even crept upstairs the first night

to quietly sleep near the foot of my bed on his bed.  He's been there every night since.  All who meet hi comment on his beautiful coat and lines, and his loving and gentle personality.  What a lover he is,

But not pushy...and I thought he might be aloof.  It hasn't been entirely hiccough free.  He fell into my koi pond 3 times in the first 12 hours! I'm strongly suspicious that he purposely jumped in the third time to get

another on of those nice smelling baths with a towel rub.  So thank you. Thank you for allowing me to bring such a handsome, gentle, loving companion into my life and home.

He will TRULY retire like a Sir Ruger should, with tons of TLC and pampering

Sincerely,

Mary

Mike,

Here is Zoie at 5 months on her first live birds. We released 4 quail and she hit rock hard points on all 4. As you see no lead or check cord to bring her into the sent cone. In the cornfield pick the wind swirled around

her and she followed the wind and stayed in place. In the grass- fallen tree pics she was moved by me 3 times and never broke point. I had to tear up the tree just to get the quail to flush and during this time Zoie never

charged the spot and only broke when the quail did flush. Mike, I really want to thank you for my second dog from you. Zoie is starting to show the traits I had in my first gog from you.

And is exceeding my expectations for right now

Hi Mike & June,

Hard to believe Hidie is four years old already.  She was born on Thanksgiving Day in 2011. Just wanted you to know how grateful I am to have her.

She loves kids, rarley barks, and is a loyal companion.  She takes me hunting several times a year and doesn't get mad when I miss a bird.  I couldn't have asked for a better hunting buddy.

Thank you,

Steve

Just got back form a trip to Hunting Creek Preserve, Harmony, North Carolina with Luke whom I purchased in Sept 2013 and picked up in Dec 2013.

Luke (AKC Mick Jagger) has proven himself to be one great bird dog. I have put much time to training him and the results couldn't be better.

His natural ability is something Mabe Kennels can be proud of. His intellect an willingness to hunt in any condition is fantastic.

He has gotten his AKC Junior Hunter credentials and love to hunt in any weather conditions.  He is a great pointer and retriever and nothing gets lost because of his nose.

Here are a few pictures of Mabe Kennels enjoyment

Sincerely,

Petter

Hello Mike and June!

Biko is doing extremely well! He recentky passed his "AKC STAR PUPPY" and "AKC GOOD Citizen" test. Well behaved. We owe the both of you for this great start in his training.

As you predicted. Biko adapted to our Siamese cat as well without issues. Spring is here along with all the birds - Biko is so intense watching them. He has a one track mind is birds!

He "points" from the living room window at them. Can not wait to get him pheasant hunting this fall. It definitely is in his blood.

Thank you for the best dog in the world. We just love having him in our family.

Hope all is well. Take care

Stephanie/Kyla

Jax is phenomenal - love him SO much!

Kelly

Mike & June-

Still cannot thank you enough for our little Pearl, She is such a joy- she has brought so much laughter, happiness, & love into our house.

This picture was taken on her first meeting with my horse Obi. She was not afraid at all- I think she was washing I would let her loose to go play with him.

We graduate this week from puppy class and I will enroll her in the next level of basic obedience. She is a quick learner & aces all the new things I'm teaching her.

I also take her to " Puppy Play Day" at Petco every Sunday. A couple weeks ago there was a stunning little black roan shorthair- I couldn't believe it.

I got to talking to the girl that had him & found out she got him from you- and not only that- he is Pearl's ½ brother. His name is Micky & his parents are Hendrix & Nikki.

Wishing you a wondergul Christmas & all the nest in 2015.

Mike,

I wanted to thank you for taking the time yesterday to introduce us to now our second puppy for Mabe Kennels.

Our first puppy which is now almost two is the most amazing dog. With minimal training she is the best hunting dog I have had. She took right to pointing and the retrieving was even better.

I had her out hunting this past weekend and she put up 9 pheasant and retrieved all right back to my feet, even as the birds were kicking and flapping there wings.

To top that off she went to retrieve a wounded bird which was still running. Once dropped at my feet the bird ran, so she went and got it again. Instead of just dropping and letting it run again

she dropped it and just stepped on it preventing it from running again. The intelligence in the blood line is definitely visible!

Aside from being an awesome hunting dog she is also a great family dog. Great with kids, other dogs, visitors, etc... She has everyone wrapped around her finger.

As for the looks of the dogs comments don't stop on how beautiful she is. I would highly recommend any dog from Mabe Kennels especially from Lilly and Hendrix!

Looking forward to picking up the new edition January 23rd!

Jared

Dear Mike and June

We are thrilled to be taking home Biko - and want to thank you for this special puppy of Nicki and Hendrixs.

The training videos have been our delight for weeks- June your love, kisses, and gentle inspiration was a joy!

He loves you! Mike your care and wisdom and laugh as he leaped for the wing was perfect.

Who would expect a nine week old puppy to be able to heel off leash! WOW!

Thanks you for all your love and care of Biko in training.

Just wanted to send a picture of Kima, now almost 6 months old. We love her!  She's such a great, beautiful puppy. Thanks,
