Hi Mike – I just wanted to reach out, say hello, and give you an update on Cam.  He is such an amazing dog, incredible personality, bundles of energy.  He loves to play fetch, runs all day, hasn’t met a dog or person that he doesn’t love and once he works off all his energy he really enjoys curling up for a nap.  Everywhere I go with Cam he receives compliments galore!

She is absolutely perfect!! She is wonderful and gentle with all of my nieces and nephews and plays well with all of the dogs in mine and Joes family. She adjusts well to all of the new places we take her too! We have obedience class on Mondays and she catches on quickly! I can't wait till she's a year old so I can get her agility classes! I know she'll succeed in that for sure! Her vet says she's very healthy and beautiful. Piper and I have ran into three of your customers already! Two of them got their GSP's a few years ago, one will be picking their pup up soon, Doyle, from Magic and Hendricks! We were on a walk with Piper the other day and a family of three came out of their house because Piper was so beautiful-they had to see her up close and find out her breed. Joe and I sing your praises to everyone and have given your info to a ton of people! I hope you and your family are doing well! Once again, Joe and I can't thank you enough for this perfect little puppy! You'll hear from us soon, whether its another update or to get in line for another one of your gems!
Hi Mr. Mabe!
Piper is wonderful!!! She is well behaved, obedient-even sits as soon as my 6 year old niece tells her to, and my personal favorite quality of hers: she loves to snuggle. Everyone is surprised when we say she is only 5 months old. Joe and I are enjoying every minute with her!!! Thank you for such an amazing dog!
Mike,

I am not usually the type to send in letters of recommendation, but I feel this is one time I should.  We got Willow from you just about a year ago now.  First and foremost we were looking for a family dog.  I was hoping that we would also get a dog that would be at least slightly inclined to do some bird hunting.  Well be got both.  Willow is fantastic with our 4 and 8 year old kids.  Not only does she love to play will them she seems to know the limits of each of them.  On top of that she has made a top notch hunting dog.  I have to admit I did not put as much work into training her as I would have liked but ended up taking her out on her first hunt at five months.  She quickly learned what we wanted her to do and can point bird amazingly well.  It came natural to her.  I actually had a good conversation with another GSP breeder at the hunt club and he was amazed at what the dog was doing at 7 months.  Well, I just wanted to thank you for a wonderful dog and let you know that I will be back one day for another one of your dogs.  Attached you will see a few pictures of some of her early hunts.

Dear Mike & June~

A quick note to let you know that Jazzy has been with me for 2 years now and continues to delight my life. She is affectionate, awesome with kids and has a strong yet manageable prey drive.
Swimming is a favorite pastime of hers. Here's a short video of her showing off in the pool. Feel free to use it and use me as a reference. My Mabe pup has spoiled me and I'll never get another dog from anywhere else!

Warm regards,
Eve

We just wanted to write you a quick email to let you know how pleased we are with our new addition. We got a puppy from you last March and she was from a litter of Prudence and Hendrix. She was the only all liver female puppy which was exactly what we were looking for. She is a family pet first and eventually my husband will like to make her his hunting companion as well. We have two small children (5 year old daughter and 2 year old son) and our dog, who we named Luna, is wonderful with our children. She is their best friend and plays alongside them outside and also is very obedient to any of their commands. She is a very smart dog and a quick learner. We had very few issues with her from the very start and she has just progressed into a great dog that is a pleasure to have in our home. We constantly get compliments on how beautiful of a dog she is and her overall demeanor. My in-laws also purchased a puppy from you about 6 months after we got Luna and they are the best of playmates. Luna celebrated her first birthday on January 5th and she currently weighs about 61 lbs.

Thanks,
Nate and Tiffany

Mike & June:

I wanted to send you some updated field photos of Jennie and let you know how Jennie is doing. She is almost 2 and a half-years-old now. She is steady to wing/shot/fall and she does this without me ever having to use a check cord when she was in training. It is so nice to have a dog that is close working and steady throughout the hunting sequence out in the field. She retrieves regularly now, it just took a lot of positive encouragement and patience at the right times while she was growing up/developing. I would highly recommend your GSPs and your training to anyone!

Just wanted to give you an update. Purchased Luger back in November from you. He is doing great took him out on his first hunt this past weekend. He did really well. Had some really nice points and some good retrieves. Very impressed with him being only 5 months old. Hes still got a long way to go but hes got a good start. Heres a picture of him. He decided to sit on all the birds while we were taking pictures. Will recommend you to everyone.

Hi Mike!
It's been almost seven weeks since we picked up Josie, and we couldn't be any happier with her. She is such a wonderful addition to our family. We continue to work on the training that you started. She is ALWAYS ready to work with the wing. We took her to Bass Pro Shop last week, and people were amazed that she was such a well behaved girl at only four months old. Everyone commented on how beautiful she is. Maybe we will come and get her a "sister" soon!!!!

Hello Mike....

I have been meaning to send you a note to tell you how happy I am with Pete. He was by far the easiest to train dog I have worked with so far. I started hunting him last year at 5 months old and he was just a natural. By 7 months old he was holding point rock solid even if the bird was moving around. I know when I had talked to you for the first time you were very confident that your dogs are outstanding in the field and also as a family member. I would gladly talk to anyone of your soon to be customers if they need some re-insurance that your kennel has outstanding dogs. I have attached a few pictures for you. One of him on a rock solid point at 8 months old at Des Plaines conservation area.

Thanks again,

Scott

Hi Mike,

Well you’ve done it again. Jeff picked up Jaeger on the 8/12 and he is another fantastic addition to our family. Again, I would like to thank you for the exceptional bloodline you have. I thought with Baron we had found a diamond but Jaeger is taking on that title also. So now the Flaws’ household has two of Mabe Kennel’s diamonds. Baron is now retrieving from the lake and his muscle tone is fantastic in addition to the fact that he is one of the finest all white GSP’s out there (I’m quite partial to him) there isn’t a sporting store that he’s been in that he hasn’t received praise on his looks and his manners so thank you for that. But now with Jaeger we can see his hunting potential already and he hasn’t even been introduced to his hunting prey yet. When he goes outside, he stops, focus’ and lifts his paw immediately and does the stare down not sure what he’s focusing on but he’s destined to have hunting in his blood. And I’m 100% sure that when he makes his travels with Baron to Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s he will also be a head turner…. And on a hunting note… I’m sure Jeff will be truly satisfied with his choices. Thank you again for putting very proud smiles on our faces as well as in our hearts. We’ll send pictures soon on Baron.

Mike,

It is hard to believe Onyx turns 1 year old today. I wanted to take a moment and thank you. We have been very pleased with his demeanor and instinctive hunting skills. Onyx stays out most of the time and is very well behaved in our home.

You did a very nice job of training him. I was watching Bird Dog Circuit and the comment was made about German Shorthair Pointers not being good retrieving dogs without being forced to retrieve. This is not the case with Onyx. He will play ‘Fetch it up’ and ‘Bring it here’ all day long. I attribute this to your work with him at such a young age.

As you may recall, we paid for additional training. When we were discussing this, you had a list of items you normally worked on. In conjunction with your list, I asked to ensure he was accustomed to gun fire and I didn’t want to be embarrassed when I was out hunting with others who had experienced dogs. You exceeded my expectations. He went hunting 11 times last year. Onyx did very well the first time out and continually improved each time. He is a close hunter, works the field back and forth, and retrieves, even a 50+ yard retrieve on one hunt. Impressive for a pup that was only 5 months old.

My wife and I are very pleased and I wanted to take a moment to thank you. I have thanked God many times for my wife finding you on the internet. In addition, we appreciated you letting us come and visit him on a weekly basis and for the DVD of Onyx. He is a family dog, but has a very close bond with my wife. It is great. Please feel free to use my wife and I as a reference. We absolutely love Onyx and he has been perfect, serving as a family pet and all business when it comes to hunting. I can’t wait to get him this fall.

Sincerely,

Ben & Lisa

Mike-

Just wanted to write you a quick note to let you know that Easton is doing well. He is a little over 6 months old now and we are very pleased with him. His temperament is great, in fact a lot less hyper than I anticipated. He is a big fan of ice cubes, deer horns, and being a lap dog. He is weighing in at 43 pounds already, so I think he'll be a pretty good sized dog. We have a few things to work on, but listens pretty well. Shed hunting is still a goal of ours, which means we'll likely start training soon.

I have attached 3 of our favorite pictures of him.

Thanks!

Hi Mike

Jazzy has been with me for one year today and I couldn't be happier with the dog she's become. She is full of personality, yet enjoys her down time and is the least hyper of the last 4 Shorthairs I've owned.

As we both know, Shorthairs are not big bad guard dogs. But the other day a repair guy came to fix my awning and Jazzy was having NONE of it. I took this video clip because it is the only time I've EVER seen her hair stand on end. She definitely protects me, but is a real sweetheart with kids, family and friends.

Hope all is well by you. I continue to tell people that a Mabe shorthair is the only dog I'll own.

Take care,
Eve

Gibson's reaction to first firefly.

Hi Mike.

This T and Queeny's pup 1-7-12. Pastor Bill here. Last night Gibson saw his first lightning bug. 5 times a day with obedience and hunting. High praise. Beautiful gun loving pup good companion. Soon I'll b contacting u about a pheasant to fetch.

Bella gets the point.

Mike,

Just wanted to let you know how Bodie is doing. We are very pleased with him and he is a fast learner. So far Bodie is the smartest and calmest shorthair that I have ever had. At 19 weeks he is house trained and I have a shock collar but haven't had to use it. He loves working with the wing and I can't wait to see how he does this fall. I'll include a pic of him.

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to thank you for your suggestions about how to put a little weight on Jazzy. I followed your directions and gradually increased her food by a little bit everyday. We were at the vet yesterday and her weight was 33.5 pounds, an increase of 2.5 pounds. She has filled out nicely and both the vet and I are pleased with the way she looks. She is petite but well-rounded.

She is a very good girl with me, but you should see her turn on the charm when she is around a man. She is the biggest flirt ever! I had a family friend over the other night and she was literally sprawled across his lap and licking his ears looking for all kinds of attention. She turns into a complete hussy, lol. It's almost embarrassing the way she carries on.

I'm still trying to capture a good video of her watching you on the computer. She watches and literally cries when she hears your voice. It's no mystery to me why she loves men so much!

Up until a few weeks ago Jazzy never barked. But she recently has found her voice and seems to love playing guard dog. Her bark is definitely worse than her bite! All in all I couldn't be happier with her. Thanks for always being available to answer my questions.

Take care,
Eve

Hi Mike,

I just thought you would like to know we really love our Elle. She is getting comfortable around us and our other dog. Elle is still pointing and is great on the leash for all of us.She will come when I call, no problems.
